Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. Patient and public involvement (PPI) is an active partnership where patients, carers, and members of the public work with researchers, using their experiences to help shape the research. It is seen as pivotal to improving both the value and the relevance of research.
As well as the notable reasons for including PPI within research, research funders are increasingly requiring PPI to be integrated into the design, conduct and dissemination of health research with plans outlined at the grant application stage.
This event will provide an overview of how PPI can be embedded in the research cycle, give practical insights into engaging under-represented groups within your research, and outline how to integrate PPI in to grant applications.
Speakers Dr Shoba Dawson (Senior Research Fellow), Bep Dhaliwal (PPI representative) and Angeli Vaid (Oxford BRC Training and Inclusion Manager in PPIE) will guide us through these topics, enabling the audience to consider opportunities for integrating PPI into their own research.
