OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.

Joseph S. Nye Jr is the University Distinguished Service Professor, Emeritus, and former Dean of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He has served as US Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, Chair of the National Intelligence Council, and Deputy Under Secretary of State for Security Assistance, Science, and Technology. In addition to his practical accolades, Professor Nye is one of the foremost theorists in the discipline of International Relations. In a recent survey of International Relations scholars, he was ranked as the most influential scholar on American foreign policy, and in 2011, Foreign Policy named him one of the top 100 Global Thinkers.
The question of morality is central to the world of international relations, yet it has been traditionally side-lined within the discipline. In this lecture, Professor Nye will draw upon his recent publication, Do Morals Matter? to re-centre the question of morality in our understanding of international affairs. Focusing on the role of ethics in US foreign policy since 1945, the discussion promises to shed light on how principled understandings of justice, ethics, and morality impact our political climate in the contemporary.
