OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
This lecture series was established in honour of St Hilda’s alumna, Sue Lloyd-Roberts, the award-winning broadcast journalist whose uncompromising and courageous documentaries highlighted humanitarian issues across the world. Our speaker this year, London-based international journalist and broadcaster, Isabel Hilton, is one of the world’s most respected China analysts. She studied at the Beijing Foreign Language and Culture University and at Fudan University in Shanghai before taking up a career in written and broadcast journalism. Isabel is the founder and editor of chinadialogue.net, a non-profit, fully bilingual online publication based in London, Beijing, and Delhi that focuses on the environment and climate change.
A drinks reception and a fundraising dinner will follow the lecture. Proceeds from the dinner will go to the Sue Lloyd-Roberts Fund to support St Hilda’s students who wish to explore careers in the media.
The lecture and reception are free, but please register in order to attend.
Dinner booking deadline: 22 November. Please note that refunds for cancelled tickets cannot be issued after this date.
