OxTalks will soon be transitioning to Oxford Events (full details are available on the Staff Gateway). A two-week publishing freeze is expected in early Hilary to allow all events to be migrated to the new platform. During this period, you will not be able to submit or edit events on OxTalks. The exact freeze dates will be confirmed as soon as possible.

Join us for a screening of Foragers, a compelling film that explores the intersections of ecology, culture, and colonialism in Palestine/Israel, followed by a talk with filmaker Jumana Manna moderated by Chihab El Khachab. With wry humor and a meditative pace, the film delves into the drama surrounding the foraging of wild plants like ’akkoub and za’atar—practices central to Palestinian heritage yet criminalized under Israeli nature protection laws, questioning who holds the power to decide what thrives and what disappears. From the wild to the kitchen, from courtroom defenses to nature patrol chases, the film highlights the joy, knowledge, and resistance embodied in these traditions.
About the artist: Jumana Manna is a visual artist and filmmaker. Her work explores how power is articulated, focusing on the body, land and materiality in relation to colonial inheritances and histories of place. Jumana was raised in Jerusalem and lives in Berlin.
