Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. Once Oxford Events launches, you will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.

Zakia Soman is co-founder and co-director of the Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan (BMMA: The Indian Muslim Women’s Movement), a high-profile organisation that campaigns to improve the social and legal rights of Muslim women in India. The organisation co-filed the court case that led to the Supreme Court ban on triple-talaq (instant divorce) in 2017, and is engaged in a number of other campaigns for further reforms to Muslim family laws.
Ziba Mir-Hosseini is a globally renowned academic and legal activist. She is one of the co-founders and leaders of Musawah, a global Islamic feminist movement working for equality and justice within Muslim families, that links together NGOs, activists and scholars from around the world. She is a Professorial Associate at SOAS and has published many books on subjects of gender equality, family law and women’s rights in Islam.
