Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
This event is open to all members of the History Faculty (including PS staff), as well as local historians who may be interested in an introductory/brush-up session about oral history methods and applying for research ethics clearance from the University. The session will be run by three researchers who are highly experienced in using oral history practice for their own projects: Dr Aleena Din, Dr Sally Frampton and Sadiya Ahmed.
Aleena Din and Sadiya Ahmed are both joint leads on the Hub’s ‘A Muslim History of Oxford’ project, and have been working with a group of research assistants to record a number of oral history interviews with members of the local Muslim community, to grow a community-based archive of British Muslim histories.
Sally Frampton is a historian of medicine and health, who has recently been working with local mental health charities such as Restore and Oxfordshire Recovery College, to train charity workers to document and share the history of local mental health care treatment through co-produced oral history research and a short documentary film.
They will all be sharing their knowledge and experience of good practice through a talk, which will be followed by a Q&A and a chance to discuss ideas/experiences shared by participants themselves.
