OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
The next Professor of Poetry lecture by Alice Oswald will take place on 1 December at 5.30pm at the Examination Schools, University of Oxford. The title of the talk is: Meandering Fortune-graphs – a conversation between the Book of Job and David Jones’ In Parenthesis.
Admission is free and no booking is required. Seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Professor of Poetry lectures were conceived in 1708 by Berkshire landowner Henry Birkhead and began after he bequeathed some money so it could be a valuable supplement to the curriculum. The current Professor of Poetry is Professor Alice Oswald. She will be giving one lecture each term for the four years of her tenure. You can watch and listen to her previous talks on the Professor of Poetry page: www.english.ox.ac.uk/professor-of-poetry
