Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. Adam Phillips is a psychoanalyst and essayist. He is author of many books, including On Kissing, Tickling and Being Bored, On Flirtation, The Beast in the Nursery, Darwin’s Worms, Houdini’s Box, Going Sane, Missing Out, Becoming Freud, and In Writing. His most recent book, Attention Seeking, was published last year.
‘The Poet’s Essay’ seminar is held three times a year. There are no sign-up lists or reserved places, although there is a small amount of required reading for each seminar. The series focuses on American poetry of the twentieth century. Before each seminar, Phillips prepares a handout featuring a selection of work to be discussed; the handout is available via a downloadable link, and at the seminar Phillips introduces the material and leads the discussion.
