During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. James Stourton – historian, author and former Chairman of Sotheby’s UK will discuss the UK art market and his new book Rogues and Scholars: Boom and Bust in the London Art Market 1945-2000 (2024). He tells the story of the London art market from the post-war period to the turn of the millennium, introducing us to “a glorious rogues’ gallery of clever amateurs, eccentric scholars, brilliant emigrés, cockney traders and grandees with a flair for the deal”.
