On 28th November OxTalks will move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events' (full details are available on the Staff Gateway).
There will be an OxTalks freeze beginning on Friday 14th November. This means you will need to publish any of your known events to OxTalks by then as there will be no facility to publish or edit events in that fortnight. During the freeze, all events will be migrated to the new Oxford Events site. It will still be possible to view events on OxTalks during this time.
If you have any questions, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
You are invited to celebrate the recent release of When Courage Calls, Sarah C Williams’ ground-breaking biography of Josephine Butler, the nineteenth-century social and political activist whose campaigning for equal rights for women, and advocacy on behalf of the most vulnerable, has often been overlooked. Professor Williams will share with us about Butler’s pioneering public work, her deep intellectual engagement, and the spirituality which fuelled her radical activism.
There will be drinks, nibbles, and copies of the book for sale.
Sarah C Williams is a gifted communicator known for bringing history to life in a way that speaks to contemporary society. She taught modern history at the University of Oxford before moving to British Columbia to teach international post-graduates at Regent College, Vancouver, where she is a Research Professor in the History of Christianity. The Oxford Pastorate is hosting this event with the kind support of Wycliffe Hall.
