Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
This season sees the chanting of ‘frozen garlic’ (‘凍蒜’ dongsuan, a Taiwanese Hokkien pronunciation for ‘當選’ dangxuan, meaning getting elected) in campaign rallies across Taiwan as the island approaches its quadrennial presidential and legislative elections on 13th January 2024.
On Thursday 30 November, in the final week of the Michaelmas term 2023, the Oxford Taiwan Studies Programme and the University of Oxford China Centre will co-host a panel to unpack various aspects of Taiwan’s 2024 elections. The panellists will discuss developments on the campaign trails, assess the cross-Strait factor, and analyse the implications for geopolitics in the Indo-Pacific region.
