During the session we will look at tools and strategies for identifying attractive roles and understanding what a job really entails, whilst also considering the importance of knowing your own skill set and preferred parameters and using that knowledge to shape your job search.

Workshop objectives:

• Identify appropriate tools to clarify your personal skill set and work preferences
• Learn about employers’ views on researchers, and key skills sought by typical sectors of interest
• Discover strategies for investigating career options in a structured way
• Understand common patterns of transition from academia, and your own rationale for making the move.
