Improving the quality of research applications involving animals (Science Area, South Parks Road)

The justification of your group sizes is a key part of good experimental design and, when it comes to the use of animals in research, a large part of the ethical justification for their use. This workshop will cover how to construct a justification of animal numbers section for grant applications to the major UK funders as well as give advice on related PPL questions. This will include estimating experimental and breeding numbers as well as addressing points on reducing bias and the renewed focus on the use of both sexes in experimental work.

This session will take place in the University Science Area, South Parks Road, but there is another session on offer on 18 October, 2 – 4pm, at the Old Road Campus. You only need to come to one, so pick which one suits you best.

This workshop is FREE but registration is essential, so please email chris.barkus@nc3rs.org.uk to register.
