Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
Campion Hall offers a range of public lectures and seminars as part of its academic and educational mission.
The Campion Lecture
Taking place once a term, these are lectures by senior academics, Church, or public figures, presenting research in a variety of disciplines and spheres.
The Martin D’Arcy Memorial Lecture
Established in 1976 in memory of Martin D’Arcy, the D’Arcy Lectures are a series of six – eight lectures by a distinguished Jesuit academic, normally (but not always) delivered during the Hilary term, leading to the publication of a monograph. The lectures are substantive and academic, but also accessible to more than the proponents of a single discipline. The D’Arcy lecturer is resident at Campion Hall for the duration of the lectures.
The John Henry Newman Annual Lecture
The Newman Lecture is offered to the University of Oxford by its Catholic halls: Blackfriars Hall and Campion Hall. This lecture presents the best of Catholic life and tradition to the wider University. Newman Lectures are generally high profile, involving distinguished academics, Church, or public figures.
Campion Seminar
This is a doctoral and research seminar in modern and contemporary theology, taking place during each of the three terms, on alternate Fridays. Papers authored by doctoral students from the Faculty of Theology and Religion, or by Fellows, are read in advance. The argument of the paper is then discussed by the group.
