OxTalks will soon be transitioning to Oxford Events (full details are available on the Staff Gateway). A two-week publishing freeze is expected to start before the end of Hilary Term to allow all future events to be migrated to the new platform. During this period, you will not be able to submit or edit events on OxTalks. The exact freeze dates will be confirmed on the Staff Gateway and via email to identified OxTalks users.

Description of Talk:
‘Divided: Why we are living in an Age of Walls. Barriers are going up. Nationalism and identity politics are on the rise once more. Thousands of miles of fences and walls have been erected in the past ten years, and they are redefining our political landscape.
In Europe the ruptures of the past decade threaten European unity. In the USA the rationale for the Mexican border wall taps into the fear that the USA will no longer be a white majority country in the course of this century.
Understanding what has divided us, past and present, is essential to understanding much of what’s going on in the world today.’
