Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. At SoGE, we use systems thinking in varied forms to understand the complex dynamics of human-environment interactions. Our research has a broad range, spanning across water, food, energy, biodiversity, climate, marine protection and other areas – with cross-cutting themes of economic and social justice. The work is highly interdisciplinary within projects, but ongoing knowledge exchange between research groups is challenging. At this workshop we will come together to celebrate and strengthen the use of systems thinking and systems tools at SoGE. The SOGE research showcase will include presentations from the ECI Ecosystems Lab, the Oxford Seascape Ecology Lab, the Complex Human-Environmental Systems Simulation Lab, the Food Systems Transformation Programme, the REACH Water Security Programme, the SOGE Water Research Programme, the Energy Research Programme, and the Economics of Environmental Change Group. In the afternoon, we will be joined by systems-thinking leaders from the UK government to discuss the use of systems-based research in environmental governance decision-making.
