Developing post-Brexit Development Policy with Prof Amelia Hadfield

The ‘Global Britain’ foreign policy concept puts forward an ambitious strategy that carves out a position on the global stage for the United Kingdom post-Brexit. However, development policy does not appear to play a central role in this strategy, as illustrated by the Government’s most recent development budgets.

With this event, we hope to explore whether or not this is a missed opportunity, and, if so, how a more ambitious development policy framework could support the objectives of Global Britain. Attend to take part in an interactive discussion focusing on how a more ambitious development policy strategy could support Britain’s economic objectives and soft power/humanitarian goals.

We are delighted to be joined in this discussion by Prof Amelia Hadfield, Head of the Department of Politics and Director of the Centre for Britain and Europe (CBE) at the University of Surrey. Prof Hadfield’s research, teaching, and consulting covers a wide range of areas on EU foreign and security policy, as well as new forms of EU-UK relations, including EU development policy.
