Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. Once Oxford Events launches, you will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
This webinar will consider how the rise of digital technologies, such as online platforms to match demand and supply of
transport, affects everyday mobilities and livelihoods of low income individuals and communities across the planet.
Ms Carly Gilbert-Patrick (UNEP) will open the webinar with a broad overview of the role of digitisation of mobility in the
Global South; this will be followed by a presentation by Professor Samuel Odewumi (Lagos State University, Nigeria)
about e-hailing services in cities in West and East Africa. An animation film about the plight of auto-rickshaw drivers
working for commercial platforms directed by Dr Lucy Baker (formerly University of Oxford) will also be shown. The
webinar will be chaired by Professor Tim Schwanen (University of Oxford).
