People like to talk about rivers on the internet: from complaints about pollution to the celebration of wildlife, rivers provoke passionate social media comments. When Twitter users express their feelings about rivers, we get a glimpse of how nature affects human wellbeing.
This virtual event marks the public launch of the River Sentiment Dashboard, a free web app for exploring how rivers make people feel.
Based on analysing millions of tweets, the River Sentiment Dashboard displays social media sentiment alongside data about the ecological status of more than 400 rivers in the Thames basin.
During this webinar, the team behind the River Sentiment Dashboard will introduce how the tool works. Researchers from Oxford and Exeter will be joined by catchment experts from Thames21 to explore how language technology and big data can support communities to advocate for healthy rivers.
Come join us and get a first look at the River Sentiment Dashboard in this free and public webinar!
