A two-week publishing freeze is expected to start before the end of Hilary Term to allow all future events to be migrated to the new platform. Synthetic control methods build on the popular difference-in-differences method but use systematically more appealing comparisons to address bias in policy evaluation studies. This talk provides a non-technical introduction to the approach and discusses recent methodological developments in the synthetic control literature.
