OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.

Professor Elena Lazos Chavero is a visiting scholar with TABLE for Michaelmas term. She is a Professor at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, in the Institute of Social Research. Elena received her PhD in Anthropology and the Socioeconomics of Development from the School of Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales) in France. She is interested in the political ecology of the conservation of agricultural biodiversity and food sovereignty, perceptions and impacts of transgenic (GM) maize, gender and rural transformations, socioenvironmental vulnerabilities to climate change, and the culture and power dynamics of the complex interrelationships between humans and more-than-humans. Elena has coordinated 25 transdisciplinary research projects from a decolonial perspective on socio-environmental, agrifood, and territorial dynamics.
