Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
Weather and climate processes play important roles in driving the deterioration of heritage. There has been increasing interest in how climate change is likely to affect heritage, with the IPCC AR6 Working Group II report stating with high confidence that both tangible and intangible heritage are already being lost due to changes in climate. Conventional climate parameters, such as average annual temperature, do not capture the risk that climate poses to heritage. This talk will firstly explore the concept of refining standard climate parameters for a heritage context so that past, present and future threats to heritage can be assessed. It will also explore how uncertainties in climate models influence our understanding of these heritage parameters, and subsequent decision making processes.
