Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
Professor Luca Zan is one of the world’s leading experts on the management of cultural heritage. In this talk, he will introduce his recent book, a collection of edited essays about the Arsenale of Venice—one of the most important and least well-managed heritage sites in the world. Despite occupying a huge proportion of the area of Venice, with a history of 1,000 years and fascinating architectural, scientific, and historical significance, much of the site remains neglected or closed.
The book explores different aspects of the debate about what to do with the Arsenale from the perspective of various stakeholders: heritage professionals, museum curators, academics, and political decision-makers, etc. It offers observations, evidence and comparative examples, in a wide-ranging discussion about the past, present and future of this important heritage site.
With Prof Heather Viles and OUHN staff.
Feel free to extend the invitation to any colleagues who may wish to attend.
