OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
The presentation is based on Jill Philine Blau’s recent book: Land, Gender and Commons (2023) This book explores how the concept of the commons can be extended through feminist intersectional perspectives. With extensive case studies on the commoning of pastoralists in Ethiopia and Germany, Jill Philine Blau investigates how social categories of difference; especially gender and age – have a structuring effect on the commons, as well as how the commons can be understood more deeply through a broader understanding of reproductivity and care.
Jill Philine Blau is a Postdoctoral Researcher and heads a Master’s program in Development Studies for Professionals at Friedensau Adventist University in Germany.
