OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
If you’re interested in utopia (or simply looking for a reason to read more fiction), join the Oxford Utopia Reading Group. We read one novel over the course of each term, discussing a few chapters every week. This Michaelmas we will read Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Dispossessed: An Ambiguous Utopia (1974). We’ll meet Friday afternoons at 4 pm in Brasenose College to discuss a few chapters of The Dispossessed. Weekly discussions will be supplemented with short readings by Le Guin, her contemporaries, and their anarchist predecessors on topics drawn from the novel. These topics include anarcha-feminism, fiction, work, time, resistance, and revolution.
