Seminar in Irish History

The seminar will meet on Wednesdays in the Old Library, Hertford College, at 5.00pm

This seminar is intended primarily for graduate students but interested undergraduates are warmly welcome.

The seminar programme for 2019 will include Professor Joanna Bourke (Birkbeck) on rape in nineteenth-century Ireland; Professor Joe Lee (NYU), on ‘Writing Irish History’; Rachel Kowalski (Wolfson College, Oxford), on the Provisional IRA in the 1970s; and two round-table sessions to mark new books from OUP, the first with Professor Brendan O’Leary (University of Pennsylvania), author of a 3-volume Treatise on Northern Ireland and the second with Professor Guy Beiner (Ben-Gurion University), author of Forgetful Remembrance: Social Forgetting and the Vernacular History of a Rebellion in Ulster.
