SSHM World AIDS Day Online Lectures

Please note that this event will be recorded and uploaded to SSHM's YouTube channel in due course.

The Society for the Social History of Medicine (SSHM) is delighted to introduce its next online public event, free of charge, in recognition of World AIDS Day. We will hear from two American scholars investigating the impact of HIV/AIDS on Black communities in the United States:

  • Dr Aishah Scott will present “Trickledown Respectability Politics and HIV/AIDS in Black America”
  • Dr Antoine Johnson will present “(Re)Framing AIDS: A Critical Approach to Vulnerability”

The session, chaired by Dr Richard A McKay, will leave plenty of time for questions from the audience.

This event will take place online via Zoom and will include live captioning. The meeting details will be sent to all before the event.
