Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. In this presentation, I will provide an overview of adaptive testing—both at item level and at module level— and I will discuss the challenges & opportunities for the application of the adaptive algorithms to high-stakes assessments. I will discuss the issues related to item parameter estimation and comparability of test scores across administrations, as applied to both traditional and digital-first tests. I will illustrate the item-level adaptive digital-first test with the Duolingo English Test.
