CGHE is hosting the eighth edition of its Annual Conference on 22nd-23rd May this year with the theme ‘From Higher to Tertiary: Democratising Post-School Education’.

Keynote speakers include Alison Wolf, Sir Roy Griffiths Professor of Public Sector Management at KCL and cross-bench peer in the House of Lords; Ellen Hazelkorn, Professor Emerita, Technological University Dublin, who will be presenting ‘Is it Time to Rethink Our Model of Post-Secondary Education? Progressing a Tertiary Education Eco-System’; and David Mills, Associate Professor (Pedagogy and the Social Sciences) at the Department of Education at Oxford, who will present ‘An index, a publisher and an unequal global research economy’. This year’s Burton R. Clark Lecture on Higher Education will be given by Tristan McCowan, Professor of International Education at IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society on ‘Universities and the sustainability agenda’. There will be further keynotes from Rebecca Schendel, Managing Director of the Center for International Higher Education at Boston College (USA) and Sharon Stein, Assistant Professor of Higher Education at the University of British Columbia (Canada).

There will be panel discussions on ‘Pre-election issues in UK tertiary education (regionalisation, tuition and loans)’, ‘Tertiary education and research amid global crises’, and ‘The ‘public’ character of tertiary education’.

There will also be parallel sessions and updates from CGHE’s various research projects.

Day 1 will be held in person at the Institute of Education, UCL, while Day 2 will take place online. Those wishing to attend both days will need to register for each day separately.
