Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
CVs and cover letters are read very quickly (think seconds!) yet are crucial for getting an interview. We will share tips on how to tailor your CV, articulate relevant skills and experience, and deliver an effective application. Through individual and group exercises, you will apply the learning to your own application materials.
This session will cover applications to a wide range of sectors, including academia.
Workshop objectives:
Gain a better understanding of the key skills sought in sectors of interest to researchers and the constraints of their hiring processes
Learn how to organise and present your qualifications and experience in ways that meet the specified criteria for a post of interest
Apply new insights to your current draft CV or cover letter
Consider the skills and knowledge you should be keeping track of to future-proof your CV
To get the most out of this workshop:
We strongly encourage you to look at the CV and cover letter writing guidance on our web pages before you attend.
Please bring along a draft 1-2 page CV and/or cover letter, plus any job descriptions that interest you, whether in general terms or for a potential application. We are unable to print documents for participants; if you wish to work on a paper copy of your CV/cover letter please print before arriving at the Careers Service.
All research staff and research students are welcome.
This is an in-person event.
