This panel event is a reflection by four speakers on their own experiences of writing, researching and teaching the subject of race in universities, including at Oxford, while also drawing on knowledge and experience from a range of institutions.  Bringing together a distinguished panel of activists, academics and historians in the community, our speakers will reflect on the challenges and opportunities involved in grappling with institutional histories, and what is at stake. 

The event will include a performance by the Unlock the Chains Collective’s Euton Daley and Amantha Edmead.

Meleisa Ono-George – Associate Professor and Brittenden Fellow in Black British History at the Queen’s College, University of Oxford.

Pamela Roberts – an award-winning creative producer, historian and Director of Black Oxford: Untold Stories.

Simukai Chigudu – Associate Professor of African Politics at the Oxford Department of International Development and Fellow of St Antony’s College, Oxford University

Mishka Sinha – Research Associate at St. John’s College and co-director of the ‘St. John’s and the Colonial Past’ project.
