Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. The discovery of an envelope of photographs taken at the British Pharmacological Society meeting in 1937 labelled ‘Joint meeting with the German Pharmacological Society’ in the Pharmacology Department in Oxford provided the impetus to find out more. Together with the Chair of the German Pharmacological Society, this special event aims to look more closely at the shared histories of both societies pre-war and the subsequent disruption to academic careers. Talks will share new material looking at exile in the 1930s under National Socialism, the cost to academia and some surprising alliances.
