OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
Since 2019, Mina’s team has led the OxWell Student Survey, a pivotal initiative exploring student needs and their preferred mental health supports. The most recent survey took place from February to March 2025 and was completed by more than 35,000 students from years 7 to 13 across Oxfordshire.
Mina will share some of the early findings from the survey with us, which relate, for example to:
– their sense of satisfaction with school and factors which contribute most to a sense of belonging
– their mental health and levels of anxiety, for example in relation to exam success and bullying
– their online experiences.
The presentation will include lots of scope for discussion about the implications of these findings for the way in which our PGCE programme prepares interns to work with young people and how we can best support them. Discussion will also explore the ways in which issues of students wellbeing and belonging relate to their experiences in lessons, as well as the wider aspects of school life.
Mina’ research interest focuses on improving access to effective mental health interventions for children and adolescents, with a particular emphasis on school-based approaches. The OxWell Student Survey, which she has led since 2018 is a pivotal initiative exploring student needs and their preferred mental health supports. Findings from the survey have been used by researchers, schools and local authority partners in health and education.
Her work within the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry team in Oxford focuses on advancing understanding and treatment of child and adolescent mental health through diverse and complementary research areas.
