OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
How do we move from tracking disease emergence to predicting the next epidemic?
This talk brings together experts in pathogen genomics, virology, ecology, climate science, and data science to explore how AI, genomic surveillance, and new environmental data streams can enhance predictive models of emerging infectious diseases —bridging the gap between spillover events and epidemic forecasting.
Panel:
Professor Jessica Metcalf (Chair), Visiting Fellow, Oxford Martin Programme on Pandemic Genomics
Professor Daniel Streicker, Professor of Viral Ecology, University of Glasgow
Dr Aine O’Toole, Postdoctoral Research Associate, University of Edinburgh
Dr Tom Peacock, Fellow, Pirbright Institute
Dr Houriyah Tegally, Head of Data Science, Centre for Epidemic Response and Innovation (CERI), Stellenbosch University
This is a joint event with the Oxford Martin Programme on Pandemic Genomics.
